I own this Netbook since about 2 weeks and I am very satisfied. After a lot of my researches about Netbooks, i have decided to buy this Samsung NC10 Plus JP05.
Brevity of my stories: Due to my lot’s of experiences with PC.s, i am aware, that it is a torture to work with loud computers. It distracts when trying to concentrate on a work. And after sometime you feel pain and hum and buzzing in ears. That’s why my first priority was to find an extreme quiet Netbook. Firstly, I was planning to buy Asus. But as I read from lots of recessions from Asus, they were generally very loud. Therefore I eliminated that model. Then I looked for Acer and others. But I found out that the most quiet Netbooks are from Samsung. Therefore I continued researching only on Samsung models. And I came up with this Samsung NC10 Plus JP05 (This is the last version of Ecko Plus, since Eckos aren’t produced anymore) And it is indeed very silent. I am happy that I was not in a rash to buy. Otherwise I could have had a very noisy PC that I wouldn’t be happy with.
Specifications:
1- 1 GB Ram: I used it few days and it really needs to be upgraded. 1 GB is not enough at all. But it’s not a big deal. I upgraded it to 2 GB Samsung 2 GB 204 pin DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM (1333Mhz, PC3-10600S, CL9, 256Mx8) approximately 16-19 eur. That’s why it’s better to order it with Netbook together, because every order under 20 eur is being charged for shipping costs)
ATTENTION!: It supports only DDR3. I had ordered a Kingston DDR2 at the same time with Netbook. Because that I didn’t want to wait long for both. But after that I had to send it back and order DDR3. I am just giving this information just incase any of you may do the same mistake. After upgrading to 2 GB DDR3 (that is also faster than DDR2) Netbook became more stable. But don’t wait it to fly. It’s a Netbook. Not for playing games. It’s good if you are on the way or work in a library. Because, it is really small, and easy to use and battery last long.
2- Shiny cover: It is really shiny black and finger prints can be seen on it. I heard that scratches can also happen. For that reason, they have a matt design Samsung NC10 Plus JP06. But I didn’t want white colour. Of course there is a solution to protect shiny cover from finger prints and scratches. Here is my solution and it really gives a special effect: Notebook Skin Aufkleber. This is what I bought:

3- Battery life: I observed when I plugged in Netbook. Exactly full recharged in 2 hours. This is exact. Each minute 1%. This was really WOW
Observation:
10%: Your battery is low (10%). If you need to continue using your computer, either plug in your computer, or shut it down and then change the battery.
Your battery power is low (7%). If you don’t plug in your computer soon, it will hibernate automatically.

5%: hibernates !
When plugged in and the system will be restarted, it will start from where it was the last time. It seems impossible to lose ones work. But remember! If you don’t use Netbook too long, don’t hibernate it. Because hibernate requires power too, even though it needs very small amount of it. But it wouldn’t remain 10 days in hibernate. You would lose your all work, if not saved. So better shut down the PC.
(Quick start-up function of the Netbooks are no different from hibernate mode)
At start Battery lasts 4 hours, then by the time 6 hours and i believe it increases up to 8-9 hours, depends on use. I didn’t try it yet but right now it’s about 6 hours and i recharged only 3-5 times until now. It’s better than other Netbooks when comparing.
4- Windows 7-32 bit
It is Windows 7 with 32 bit and other languages can be installed. Recovery CD comes with it. When starting PC for the first time, it provides options for partitioning the hard disk. It is basically to separate and resize C/ and D/ driver from each other. Once you need to format your PC, all data where Windows installed (in this case C) will be deleted. Therefore it’s good do create a second Disk (D) in order to protect your files from accidental deletion. Then you need to wait about half an hour until all PC software installed. Many software from Samsung have been already installed. But they don’t bother except Norton Anti-Virus. The first thing that I had done was to delete Norton and install Bullguard Antivirus. Then I installed other programs that I use often, such as Win-rar, VLC and KM Player etc. MSN and SKYPE were already installed. Then I created a Back-Up CD. So that when I have to back up the PC, it will install everything with my last settings (Win-rar, VLC and KM Player etc again there), and clean all unnecessary…

Das Netbook ist klein, hat eine sehr gute Akkulaufzeit,gräuschlos und kann zu Hause mit Monitor, Tastatur, Maus und allen notwendigen Netzerkschittstellen überall genutzt werden. Man sollte das Netbook mit 2 GB RAM standardmäßig ausstatten.
